Why This Exists
Most salary calculators are buried inside payroll software, require an account, or push you toward a paid product. SalaryCalcTX was built to answer one simple question — what will I actually take home? — without any of that friction. Enter a salary, get an estimate. No sign-up, no email, no tracking.
What It Covers
The calculator covers the six US states with no state income tax: Texas, Florida, Nevada, Tennessee, Washington, and Wyoming. Because these states have no state withholding, your paycheck is determined entirely by federal income tax, Social Security, and Medicare — all of which this tool estimates using 2026 federal tax brackets and standard deductions. Results include breakdowns by filing status (single, married filing jointly, head of household), with optional adjustments for health insurance and 401(k) contributions.
How Accurate Is It?
The estimates are based on the same progressive bracket formulas used to calculate federal withholding — applied to your gross salary with the standard deduction. They won't match your pay stub exactly: employer-specific benefits, pre-tax deductions, bonus income, investment income, and other factors all affect real withholding. Think of this as a solid starting point — accurate enough to compare offers, plan a budget, or sanity-check a quoted salary, but not a substitute for a payroll professional or CPA when decisions are on the line.
Who Runs This
SalaryCalcTX is an independent project — not affiliated with any employer, payroll provider, or government agency. It's free to use and will stay that way. If you find an error or have a suggestion, the contact page is open.
